Rocky Balboa (VI) - Inspirational Speech to his Son

I've had this quote extracted from Rocky 6 (Rocky VI) - Rocky Balboa for the longest time as a signature in my emails.

Now I've finally decided to put up the actual clip here.

The speech starts somewhere in the middle of the video.

In this last installment of the Rocky series, Balboa's son (Robert Balboa - played by Milo Ventimiglia, better known as Peter Petrelli from the TV Series "Heroes") is having a hard time in his life and career, living in the shadow of his once almighty father, the legendary boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Rocky Balboa.

And when Rocky, after having retired for many years, decides to do a comeback fight, it proves to be the last straw for Robert and he lashes out at Rocky, dissuading him to go ahead with it.

But Rocky takes this chance to share how he truly feels about Robert's position, and turns the table around to inspire Robert to be more, do more and take responsibility of who he is and who he wants to become.

Here's the excerpt:
"Somewhere along the line, you changed.
You stopped being you.
You let people stick a finger in your face, and tell you you're no good.
And when things got hard, you started looking for something to blame...like a big shadow.
Let me tell you something you already know; the world ain't all sunshine and rainbows.
It's a very mean and nasty place.
And I don't care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, me, nobody...is gonna hit as hard as life.
But it ain't about how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can Get hit, and keep moving forward;
how much you can take, and keep moving forward.
That's how winning is done.
Now if you know what you're worth, go out and get what you're worth.
But you got to be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody.
Cowards do that, and that ain't you!
You're better than that!
Until you start believing in yourself, you ain't gonna have a life."

A&W RootBeer TV Commerial Ad - Dumass or Dumbass?

This is a hilarious ad from years ago, for A&W Rootbeer Restaurant Chain.

So this thick-headed moron goes for an interview and sells himself with stuck-up smugness. And he's stupid enough to keep weaving the company's name, Dumass, with what he says, only to pronounce it wrongly.

Go figure! Haha!

M1 Indian Restaurant TV Commercial

So in this commercial for long distance IDD service, the boss of an Indian restaurant in Mumbai picks up the phone to take an order.

Of course, he's really courteous, and asking for more details from this customer-to-be.

And when he finally asks for the customers delivery address...he flips when he hears the answer!

Good one, M1!

Beautifully Imperfect - Family Video (Funeral)

This is a really touching video, very well done.

It's a scene at a funeral, and the wife of the deceased is asked to the rostrum to give her eulogy.

Instead of the typical praise and testimonials of good deeds most others will speak of, this lady spoke of her husband's little imperfections...imperfections that's unique only to him, and meaningful only to her.

It is these imperfections that make our life partners so unforgettable, and forever leave a memory in our hearts.

Treasure the people you love, and love them for who they are....

And it's never too early to tell them how much they mean to you.

Severn Suzuki United Nations Earth Summit 1992 Brazil

Only 12 years old at the time of the speech, Severn Suzuki silenced the audience at the United Nations Summit in 1992 held in Brazil.

This feisty young lady gave the supposed leaders of the world a good dressing down, a piece of her mind.

It's true, we claim to heal the world, strive for peace, and move towards unity, but even 17 years down the road, look at how little we've progressed.

In the big scheme of things, humans really are parasites...don't you think?

I mean, we suck the planet dry of all resources, continue to increase our cursed population, fight amongst one another non-stop, bring about global warming, worsen the pollution...does that spell "end of the world" to you?

Maybe not this life time...but it's coming...believe it

The Mom Song

This song is unbelievable...and the singer is even more incredible!

Anita Renfroe sings a mouthful to the tune of the William Tell Overture.

While it makes me laugh, it also reminds me all that mothers around the world do for their children. Yeah, makes me appreciate my mum more ;)

Rush Hour 3 - You & Me or Yu & Mi?

Another one from Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker; I couldn't help laughing even after watching it for so many times!

In the movie, Carter is asking questions and this old fella just steps in to help, only to create a really funny scene :p

So you are Yu? And I am Mi? hahaha
